Bad Romance

Rah rah ah-ah-ah! Today I bring to you “Bad Romance” on the Crystal Avenue, which was inspired by the one and only, Lady Gaga. Back in January, I randomly came across Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” again on one of my Spotify playlists while I was driving home from work and knew then I had to create a look to share with you guys on the Crystal Avenue. While we are on the brief topic of Lady Gaga, can I say how amazing she was at the Super Bowl? I definitely went through a rollercoaster of emotions during her halftime show performance, because of her overall message and importance of inclusion in our nation. Furthermore, my inner fangirl was squealing when she performed “Bad Romance.”

Nevertheless, I know Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” has been released for quite some time now, yet every time I come across the song, I can’t help but feel the same euphoric sensation when I first heard it seven years ago. As you may have caught on by now, lyrics are also very important to me. Hence when I listen to “Bad Romance,” I can’t help but smile at the connotation of “Bad Romance.” To me, the song represents the act of opening up and wanting someone so badly that you are willing to sacrifice everything from the good, bad, and even the ugly parts that will ensue from taking a chance on someone for love. Whether you define the word “bad” as something that is unfavorable like a cheesy romance novel or dope, the song is truly up to interpretation. And so, one would argue this is not a healthy way to see or be in love, but sometimes you just want a cliché, bad romance.

For my outfit, I wanted to encompass the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thus I went for a slimming, all black outfit with the exception of my accessories. The reason why I wanted my attire to be shades of black is to give a sultry touch to “Bad Romance.” I also wanted the focus to be shifted more my face, as I am wearing colored contacts for the first time and a dark red lip.

As always, many thanks to my sister Michelle for working along a side me and making my vision come to life for this shoot. Whether you are celebrating Valentine’s Day, Galentine’ Day, Single Awareness Day, or just another Tuesday, I hope the day is filled with a form of love. I’ll see you again soon!
