Happy Monday, everyone!

With the end of August comes a new school year. Whether you are starting a new or returning back to the stomping grounds, I will be catering different looks and styling tips to high school students this week on the Crystal Avenue. Be sure to check back this Wednesday and Friday for more inspiration.

I have been out of high school for a few years now, but when I look back it feels like high school was light years ago. From the infamous school bell after each period to showcasing your school and class spirit, my time in high school was definitely memorable. I spent some time before writing this post, looking through my yearbooks and remembering the different fashion trends at the time.

If I could time travel in a DeLorean and was back in high school for one week, “Chemical Bonds” would be one of my looks for the week. “Chemical Bonds” is a fairly simple look, as it caters to the girl who wants to look put together, but not too dressy. To start, I chose a light, mint striped sweater from Forever 21. I purchased the light sweater in a size up, so if I wanted to wear it a little bit off the shoulder, I could have the option. I paired the sweater with my skinny gray jeans that I also purchased from Forever 21, to contrast with white and mint color. For my shoes, I chose my Vikki flats from Massimo at Target. The Vikki flats give an edge and more personality to “Chemical Bonds,” with the mini studs placed at back of the shoe. To finish off the look, I am wearing a basic black belt with a square buckle, black pearl earrings, and a white watch, a necessary accessory to ensure you are on time during passing periods.

I wholeheartedly agree that you should be able to showcase your personal style in high school. Whether you want to be simple, loud or mix both elements together, I say go for it, as long as you do not break any of the dress code rules.

To my viewers who are high schoolers, have a great school year. Go and take the school year head on. Bond with new and old friends, professors, and possibly a new fling - as they say, polar opposites attract.
